5 Steps To Creating a More Powerful You and Taking Control of Your Life

How powerful do you feel right now?

When faced with a stressful situation, does the situation take control of you, or do you take control of it? No matter what your personal power level is, it can always be improved, and here are some ways to help you do that.

Master Perspective

Thoughts have power. Positive thoughts create positive energy and negative thoughts create negative energy.

When you keep your mind focused on positive things, you increase your chances of making positive things happen, and the same goes for negative thinking.

Every situation can be seen through a positive or a negative lens, that lens is perspective.

Learn to change your perspective, create more positive energy in your life, and you will continue to increase your personal power.

Practice Martial Arts

More than just a great workout, martial arts are rooted in a very primal form of energy, the same energy that triggers our “fight or flight” response when faced with highly stressful situations.

The practice of martial arts, and the repetition of martial based movements, is a great way to improve balance and agility, release stress from the mind and body, increase self-confidence, and learn to deal with stressful situations, all contributing factors to feeling empowered.

Strength Training

No matter where you’re starting from, with the right types of workouts you can always increase your physical strength. Lifting weights, body weight exercises and some forms of yoga are all great ways to do that.

We often promote the benefits of exercise for overall health.

But another major benefit of exercise, especially workouts that focus on strength and endurance, is the increased feeling of strength and power that you build over time.

Knowledge is Power

Always be learning, always be improving, always be evolving.

Every day is an opportunity to learn something new.

It can be related to your field of work or study, or be something about nutrition, fitness or your favourite hobby.

Even what seems like trivial knowledge can help to open your mind and create new paths of thinking.

There are so many ways to acquire knowledge.

If you don’t have time, or the motivation, to read, you can listen to a podcast, watch a documentary or attend a seminar.

Some things will resonate strongly with you, others less, but every new thing you learn will increase your mental strength, and a strong mind is a very powerful thing to have.

Meditate Every Day

Meditation is the game changer. It’s the glue that brings everything else on this list together.

It’s how you connect body, mind and spirit into a single, powerful being.

Learn how to meditate, how to breathe mindfully and use it as a tool to manage stress and increase focus.

If you look at things that powerful people have in common, a daily meditation ritual is at the top of the list.

Start with simple breathing exercises, be consistent, continue to evolve your practice through books or seminars, and before long you will be an improved, more powerful version of your former self.
